I will start with an upcoming show first.

Space Academy 2 is on this Friday the 12th of June 2006. Links: Facebook Myspace This event will be at Club Tool in Hongdae in Seoul, South Korea.

From DJ Swingsett "SPACE ACADEMY... 2nd Edition with super DJ/Producer MILES MAEDA ( CHICAGO ) http://www.milesmaeda.com <<< Comin' FRIDAY, JUNE 12, with... The SPACE CADETS: DJ 'S' :: MYKIAN :: FELIX :: SWINGSETT & Visual Commander VJ SEPP... Many people ready for DIS 1 ! Watch the RIIIIIDE!!!!! :D =o ;]"

Last weekend the 6th of June I rocked Club Via in Hongdae again for Twisted which is a long running foreigner run DJ night. "A night of twisted tech, jackin & electro house!" It had a Star Trek theme and I cut up some old school Star Trek TAS (The Animated Series). Also some nuke and swine flu references to stay topical and twisted.

Last month on May 30th I VJed for Glue another long running party night here in Seoul. Again at Club Via. Another good night. I debuted some new Indian inspired video and animation in honour of the crazy poster.

On a final animation note. I won last months Animation Club!!! Secret Handshake Challenge. Check out my video about pants below. Sorry about the singing!

What?

It has been a very long time since I updated this blog that no one reads.

In my last post I mentioned my band "Brokin Machin". We played a couple of times at Hard Rock Cafe in Seoul and rocked the house on one occasion and vaguely entertained on another couple. We got a good video out of it thought. Perhaps look forward to seeing some more Brokin Machin in the near future.

I also mentioned Konkrete Jungle in my last post. VJed there and killed it, had lots of people coming up to give me respect for the visuals. A little of my visuals made it into the video for the night.

I ended up VJing a lot for The Wise Guys which is a great rock band based here in Seoul made up of really talented musicians. We played a lot at Hard Rock Cafe in Seoul and a few other places around town. Most of the other gigs didn't get much visual love but my VJing really shone at Hard Rock. Hopefully it will open up again soon and we get back to being the semi house band. Check a video with some of my visuals.

I VJed at the start of this year for DJ Vadim and Yarah Bravo as One Self for their recent Seoul show. Really cool night with great music although the main promoters Riskei ended up being dicks and I still haven't been payed! The Korean Times wrote an (online) article about the show here. It was a great show from the underground hip hop legends with awesome support from Windy City (cool Korean reggae band) , J-Path, Solegene, and Mr. Fudge. Take a look at the video but watch the sound, not the best.

I VJed the other evening at Space Academy which is a new party night here in Seoul. It was at Club Tool in Hongdae. The DJ's killed it with great tunes all night combined with some cool live music components. The DJs were Swingsett, DJ_S, Mykian, Felix and the special guest DJ: Madrid from Chicago.

This is turning into a massive post. I will try and make a separate post for each event from now on.

Another cool night I VJed at here in Seoul was Glue at Club Via. A very nice club with a good VJ set up and all the people there made me feel very welcome. I hope to VJ again there soon. The DJs for the night were Seoul Secret Service supported by DJs Airmix & Kuma & Eugene Blake.

Also quick animation news, the new Animation Club!!! presents Secret Handshake had kicked off in Melbourne at Loop Bar. I am going to try and enter each month. The last month's topic was dinosaurs. The next months topic is pants.

I will leave you with my video for the dinosaur one. Thanks for reading!!!

HAFFTube Entry!

My film "Strong Desire" is entered in the Holland Animation Film Festival's Web Competition.

You would be doing me a favor by checking it out and voting on it and favoriting it for me. It's a good film too. Using ripped paper and some good writing and voice acting. Check it out!!!

... with a fringe on top!

I just uploaded one of my VJ mixes to the Melbourne Digital Fringe site, which is part of the larger Melbourne Fringe Festival. The animation is here. It just got "approved by the content moderator" so now it's live.

I was involved in the Digital Fringe a couple of years ago when, with Animation Club!!!, when we took the MPU, Mobile Projection Unit, a van with a projector on top that streamed to the internet. We took it around Melbourne projecting onto various buildings including Federation Square. Here is a video from that time.

I am looking forward to the Digital Fringe Festival this year but not pleased that I won't be in Melbourne and will have to miss it.

Edit: Another of my VJ mixes is now up on the site here. This one is about urban signage.

HiDefZoMo

I have been playing around with the animation sites that I subscribed to and I am really enjoying Mytoons. They let me post .swf files, interactive and non. I can also post there in High Def Wide Screen. Seen below is the most wasteful use of High Def. Although it is much better quality than on youtube. I have got heaps more hits at Mytoons than at Aniboom and am featured on two Mytoons "channels".

I also registered and uploaded some movies to the not yet opened 4mations.tv site. It seems to be a site for animations for the channel 4 tv station in Britain. Since their logo appears to be winged skulls with bunny rabbits hopping out I think they will appreciate my weird animations.

New Koi Fish VJ Animation

I joined a couple of new sites this weekend. Aniboom and Mytoons.

I am in the process of putting my newer better animations up. Some hopefully in High Def. Having a little trouble getting some of them up and finding them. For example I have a film up at Aniboom but can't find it or view it at all.

Anyway Mytoons will host interactive flash animations. I make some of these for my VJ set. They are controllable through Resolume, the VJ software that I use. They make my VJ sets unique as every time I use them the clips are different. I will try and post more of these but I have one up so far.

The Koi fish swims (follows) leisurely after the mouse arrow in the clip below. Try it out. The patterns on the Koi fish are real patterns from different varieties of Koi. I am sure a Koi otaku could name them all, I just think they look pretty sweet.

MyTube

Just been setting up a new YouTube channel for my stuff.
I had a lot of videos on the web but they were spread around different sites. They are all now on YouTube and all classified nicely. The address is www.youtube.com/VJSepp

Also set up a couple of play lists, one for my animations and one for my VJing.

The videos feature music by Adie, Vadim and SoftCorps.

Also while you are on YouTube check out the Animation Club!!! channel. They are running a monthly animation competition with all the entries being screened at Loop Bar in Melbourne. Click here for more info on the competition.

Coffee anyone?

I'm trying to be more creative lately and have been doing some work on a variety of projects, more details when I get more done on them.

One of the projects I did was to design a Be@rbrick for a competition run by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, here in Korea.

I think mine (Paisley Suited) was pretty cute and a clever way of incorporating their logo in a funny, summer design. I haven't heard the results of the competition yet but fingers crossed. It would be so neat to have my own Be@rbrick made. The first prize includes a lot of vouchers for Coffee Bean and I am sure I would spend more of them on the bears.

Also working on another logo for a different competition, I think I have more of a chance with that one which would also be very cool if I win. I will update all the people who read this blog when I get more information about that one. And should be VJing again very soon.

Tool Time!

VJed last night for SoftCorps at Club Tool in Hongdae. Nice set up there although the screens were a bit small for the VJing. They were nice and clear and added to the show I think. I debuted some new animations for the songs. I had talked to Marko from SoftCorps about the theme of each song and I made some new animations and changed some others around a bit. Some of the new ones were reactive to the music and I think they worked really well. I want to make some more like that with more interactivity.

I want to wish the guys well for the huge New Years Eve show with Carl Cox. Looking forward to VJing with them when I get back from South America
